He has published two popular books, “Smart Grid Redefined: Transformation of the Electric Utility” and “Electric System Operations – Evolving to the Modern Grid, 2nd Edition”, in addition to over a hundred industry papers, articles, and blogs. His books are serving as textbooks at several universities in the US and around the world.
Mr. Hammerly has worked in the industry counselling and advising regulators, market designers and operators, utilities, industry suppliers, and investors on the nature of markets, their impacts, tools, skills, and business models necessary to successfully participate in the markets, and the organization to support markets – as a market operator or participant.
An early believer in the value of electricity markets, Mr. Hammerly guided Alstom to become the leading supplier of the market solutions.
He was the only non-utility member and one of three members of both FERC “HOW” and “WHAT” committees that laid the blueprint for US wholesale electricity markets. He testified in front of Congress on the vulnerabilities of the gird and those operational systems that support it.
Mrs. Cleary has held leadership positions in generation, transmission, distribution, and retail business areas across the United States. Her experience includes EMS, SCADA and wholesale market system implementations, retail energy delivery systems and power plant permitting, construction and operations.
She has valued central station generation and transmission in a variety of U.S. and international markets.
Mrs. Cleary’s most recent experience has focused on regulatory, market and policy matter that influence deployment of energy storage in various U.S. markets and how to value these distributed resources in the marketplace.
Ms. Susan’s practices the science of change management by collaborating with her clients to distil complex challenges into implementable experiences and opportunities.

Mr. Harrison has spent more than 30 years working in and consulting to major utilities and regulatory entities in the United Kingdom and United States on matters ranging from privatization, industry restructuring, mergers & acquisitions, corporate/operating unit strategy, technology commercialization and business transformation across generation, transmission, distribution, customer operations and unregulated/new venture sectors.
A former senior managing director for Accenture, Mike has led many of the firm’s largest operations transformation programs across the entire lifecycle from vision creation to performance realization, with particular emphasis on Asset Management, Field/Network Operations, and Customer Engagement.
Coincident with and often integrated to his transformation leadership roles, Mike has worked with utilities and their key regulatory/local stakeholders to proactively support state- or city-wide energy efficiency, clean energy, and smart grid/city plans and programs.
Before launching his consulting career with UK privatization, Mike worked for Con Edison as an overhead lines’ crewman, generations supervisor, construction inspector, and engineer.
He then worked for the Independent Power Contracts unit of Pacific Gas & Electric Company.
Mr. Young worked as a consultant for numerous industrial and large commercial customers with the analysis of opportunities in wholesale power markets.
He analyzed various conventional and DER resources to lower electricity costs and meet corporate sustainability goals.
Mr. Young’s skills, developed over 35 years analyzing electric utility rate and financial issues for wide variety of electric utilities, large industrial and high-tech customers aid greatly the ability of the team’s economic analysis talents.
Dr. Spero Mensah brings over 30 years of hands-on experience on all aspects of transmission and distribution network management and energy market systems.
Dr Mensah has broad North American and global experience having managed international teams that have deployed technologically challenging projects while at Alstom T&D and Areva T&D.
He is a leading pioneer in the development of solutions for Energy Market reform in United States and Europe as well as Smart Grid and microgrid technologies and reliable integration of Renewable energy sources.
Dr. Mensah is also a past-minister of energy, oil and mining for the country of Benin.
Mr. Ramesh Hariharan is the Founder and President of Compusharp. Ramesh has more than 20 years’ experience in the Information Technology industry. Has a master’s degree in electrical power systems from Osmania University in India.
Has designed and developed SCADA/EMS systems and Protection Systems for use in Electric Utilities Transmission and Distribution, Railways, Airports, etc.
Has held senior management and technical positions in BRI and CMC. He has a passion for providing consulting services with emphasis in timely and cost-effective delivery.
He is a paper reviewer for IEEE Transactions in Smart Grid.
